UP! – Understanding Phakama

7/10 employers believe that recruiting young people brought significant benefits to their business (Learning to work survey CIPD 2012). However, in order to recruit young people, organisations need to think creatively about the valuable contributions they can make in the workplace. UP is a youth led training programme for business, based on Give & Gain, that demonstrates what can be achieved when young people are supported to lead.

As part of this training programme, our Young Creatives are given paid opportunities to lead workshops for creative industry professionals, offered platforms to speak publicly about their practice and will receive support and guidance from our Associate Artists team.

Phakama’s Young Creatives have been commissioned to run a Map of the World storytelling session for LAMDA as part of the Summer Workshops they hold annually. On the 24th July Aliya Abdalla and Lizzie Adejimi will run a workshop for LAMDA examiners and students which will focus on storytelling through collaboration.
